St Martin's Daymark

The Daymark has stood at the head of St Martin's since 1683 and has become the island's icon. The first landmark you see on approaching the Isles of Scilly from the mainland, its distinctive red and white stripes leave an impression on all who have come to know and love our little island. No visit to St Martin's is complete without a walk up across the heather covered downs to this icon - the oldest surviving daymark in the country - to experience the 360 degree views across the islands and out to Land's End.
